ChatGPT for researchers: keep long research threads usable
Speed Booster Toolkit makes a months-long ChatGPT research thread searchable, navigable and exportable to Markdown or JSON. It does that without changing the conversation itself, and without needing the whole thread loaded in the browser at once — which is what makes a thread that has run for months practical to keep using.
The problem
Months of literature review in one thread
- A paper you discussed in March is thirty scroll-loads up, and Ctrl+F cannot see it.

A research thread behaves differently from a normal conversation. It is not a task you finish; it is a place you keep going back to, sometimes for months. Sources accumulate, positions change, and the useful material is rarely the last thing said — it is something from six weeks ago that has become relevant again.
That is the pattern ChatGPT’s paged loading handles worst. It optimises for the recent end of a conversation, which is the right call for most chats and the wrong one for this. The older half of a literature review is not old news; it is the review.
What actually helps is treating the thread as a searchable document rather than a feed. Full-chat search covers what has been indexed rather than what is rendered, so a term from March is one query away. The navigator gives the thread a contents page, with dates, so you can find the week you are thinking of. And export turns the conversation into Markdown you can keep in a vault alongside the papers themselves, or JSON if you want to process it.
None of this changes the conversation on your account. The extension only changes how much of it your browser is holding, and gives you ways to get at the rest.
