ChatGPT for writers: find and keep every draft in a long chat

The problem
Find the draft you liked three hours ago
- The version of the opening you preferred is somewhere above, and every version uses the same words.
- Scrolling back far enough to compare two drafts means waiting for batch after batch to load.
- Handing a piece to someone else means a PDF, and copying a long chat by hand is not that.
Drafting with ChatGPT produces a particular kind of mess: ten attempts at the same paragraph, all using more or less the same words, spread through a conversation with no structure. Searching for a phrase returns every version. Scrolling means passing all of them.
The thing that makes this tractable is that your own prompts are landmarks. "Make it shorter", "try a colder opening", "go back to the second one" — those are the shape of the session, and they are what the navigator lists. Reading down the rail is reading the history of the decisions, and each one is a click away from the draft it produced.
When a piece is finished, the problem inverts: you need it out of ChatGPT. Selecting a long conversation by hand does not work, because the browser only holds part of it. Exporting does — to PDF for someone who just needs to read it, or Markdown for anywhere the formatting has to survive.
And if you want to read a long session end to end, one click loads the whole thing rather than making you scroll and wait at every batch.
