How to bookmark a message in ChatGPT

ChatGPT can’t bookmark a message. You can pin a whole chat to the top of the sidebar, but the answer you wanted is still somewhere inside it, and in a long chat that can be hundreds of messages up. People have been asking OpenAI for message bookmarks for a long time.

How to bookmark a message
- Install Speed Booster Toolkit for Chrome or Firefox. It’s free.
- Under any message, click the bookmark icon. It’s the first in the row of small buttons (“Bookmark this message”).
- To find it again, point at the lines on the right edge of the chat to open the navigator, and switch to Saved.
- Click the bookmark and the chat jumps to that message. Click the icon under the message again to remove it.

- The version that finally worked. After ten rounds of fixing code, bookmark the answer that ran. It’s rarely the last one.
- Decisions. The message where a plan, a price or a name was settled, so you don’t have to reread the debate.

Bookmarks in long chats
If you keep only your newest messages loaded, an older bookmark may not be loaded yet. The Saved list tells you how many aren’t, with a button that loads the full chat, and the rest of your bookmarks are right there.
